New Chevy Volt Revealed

Source :  SUV Blogger

After months of speculation, skeptical claims of vaporware, and leaked photography, GM pulled the wraps off the 2011 Chevrolet Volt – its great green hope – at its centennial celebrations in Detroit.

It’s easy to see this isn’t the concept Volt, which debuted at the 2007 Detroit auto show. Engineers needed to improve aerodynamics for production, which explains why the flat, sharp surfaces of the show car transformed into long, rounded forms on the final product.

2006 Compact SUV : TOYOTA RAV4

Toyota’s smallest SUV is little-changed after its 2004 update. A V-6 engine is available for the first time in the fully redesigned, greatly enlarged 2006 RAV4 sport utility vehicle, which includes a new Sport model. Base and top-of-the-line Limited models also are available. More than 14 inches longer overall than its predecessor, and 3.2 inches wider, the RAV4 can be fitted with an optional third-row seat for the first time.

The RAV4 can seat up to seven people. Seating for five is standard. The second-row split-bench seat can move fore and aft and also recline. Optitron gauges are installed. Standard features include air conditioning, remote keyless entry, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel and a CD stereo that can accept input from an auxiliary source, like an MP3 player. Additional Limited features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a six-CD changer, automatic dual-zone climate control and heated mirrors. Sport models have dark charcoal-colored fabric seats.

The new model doesn’t feel as big as its enlarged dimensions suggest, and despite space for a third-row seat it’s still a relatively small SUV. Acceleration is sufficiently energetic with the four-cylinder engine, which is aided by a capable automatic transmission. Comparatively, though, the optional V-6 virtually leaps ahead. Many buyers won’t need the V-6, but it makes the RAV4 feel almost like a sport sedan rather than an SUV.

The last few years have been turbulent for Porsche and the company endured a discomforting setback when its attempt to buy out Volkswagen failed. The sales graph hasn’t been too comforting either and the economic meltdown has made matter even worse for Porsche. However, Porsche has maintained a positive attitude with the planning for a better future ahead.

In a recent report, it has been stated that Porsche is setting up plans for a new SUV which is likely to be a younger sibling to Cayenne and may be called Cajun. This arrangement seems pretty okay considering that the company already has versions and models which pays reverence to spicy names and killer reptiles, and an addition of an cultural population does not come as a surprise.

But again the Cajuns have a strong resemblance to the Cayenne and they make quite a pair – (think of the alligator) the Cayman’s closest relation. Apparently, Porsche is on a home-run and is attempting to re-brand itself as the choicest automaker for the descendants of French bayou-dwellers – das auto of Acadiana. It comes as a major surprise that no other German car maker had this thought before Porsche!
